Unboxing: June Target Beauty Box
For years, Target was, to me, a website.
When I moved my family from New York City to Greenwich, CT nearly 2 years ago, people kept telling me that big-box store shopping would quickly become a habitual (and potentially favorite) pastime. They were not totally correct, but still, I find occasionally going to Target to be fascinating. Cheap and chic rose gold lamps, the dollar bin, the celeb collabs: for a city slicker, it's all so new and interesting to observe in person instead of on my screen.
When I learned Target had a beauty box for $9.99 that sold out almost instantly each month, I signed up for a text alert from Nouveau Cheap to be one of the first to purchase. The contents were unsurprisingly very "non-prestige" but uber-fun nonetheless. This really is the democratization of the once-luxury concept of the monthly beauty box.
I was also curious about the inclusion of LaNeige, a hyped and relatively fancy Korean beauty brand. Maybe LaNeige is sold in drugstores in Korea but somehow seems more luxe here because of its exoticism?
Regardless, each little item was a fantastic gift and fun to try.

The item I'm most interested to try is the S.W. Basics Exfoliant, a powder-based exfoliating cleanser. It is formulated without any synthetic chemicals, plastic microbeads, alcohol or fragrance, and is fully organic.
