#ColourPopHaul
All photos except for 'Succulent' swatch: Sophie Lindh
Recently, Youtube-favorite cult indie cosmetics brand ColourPop had a flash sale, discounting all their merch 20%. They literally broke the internet; I had to wait 2.5 hours in an online queue just to get to the homepage.
I finally did and went bananas, since their products are tremendously unique, typically high-quality, and cheap to begin with (sale notwithstanding). I bought so much fun new stuff: i.e., colors and finishes I hadn't thought of previously, duochrome highlighters, neon eyeshadows...
"I can't breathe." I kid you not.
The box arrived as I was pulling out the driveway going to preschool pick-up. I was so excited I couldn't think straight.
I truly started to hyperventilate - it feels like what a non-asthmatic person might think of as "an asthma attack." I couldn't catch my breath because my lungs felt suddenly minuscule, and had to remind myself it was because I was breathing in too much, not too little, and I temporarily solved it.
I got my son and stood with the other moms while he played on the school grounds for a bit.
One of the other moms started telling me a rather stressful story. Then I thought about my un-opened haul waiting for me. My lungs started shrinking. I leaned against the fence and explained, "I can't breathe." I kid you not. I was not faking. I might like attention just like the next slightly vain girl with self-effacing humor, but I certainly don't feign illness.
"Really? Why??"
"I got this shipment of makeup. I am literally too excited to breathe in rhythm."
We laughed but if she could have seen what was in this box she would have understood... Please excuse the shaky/blurry photos. I was too excited to hold my hand still to take the shot.
Ah the joys of little pots of color. Is it any wonder my kids love play doh? In my home, the apple is not falling far from the tree.
As some readers may know, Mom In Mascara is a huge fan of blue eyecolor. Below are swatches of my favorites from the recent haul.
Above swatches from left to right: Bae, Luckfully, Coconut, Too Shy, and Belladonna Lily. Clearly Bae is highy duochrome. What attracted me to place it in my "lineup of blues" was the turquoise shift, but the eggplant is mainly what revealed in the swatch.
If you're wondering what on earth to do with other neon eyeshadow, stay tuned...
