Nars Audacious Lipstick
The other day I had the opportunity to wander by myself in New York for a bit of time, which was totally dreamy, and which I have not been able to do since before my first child was born, even when I lived in the city. Of course, I found myself in Sephora (the store on lower 5th Avenue). I checked out every new product I was curious about, and spent quite a bit of time with the new-ish Nars Audacious Lipsticks range.
"Look at that lip", the Sephora lady said to me. Ooh, the validation.
I swatched a few shades on my hand but decided to apply Grace, the color that grabbed my eye upon first glance. I was drawn to the potent mix of coral and fuchsia, a sweet dabble of springtime brightness on an unfairly unseasonable wintry day, a giant pinch of firey spice for my cool-toned skin and new double-process blonde bob.
I was beside myself with narcissism and selfies abounded; what better thing does a makeup-person like myself lose herself in? The product was beautiful to look at: gorgeously cut at a sexy angle, imprinted in thin script to show the thickness of the formulation, and buttery on the lip. The pigmentation was to the moon and back. It was buildable, luscious, and creamy, but stayed put (didn't smudge or feather).
"Look at that lip", the Sephora lady said to me. Ooh, the validation.
We talked "lip" for a while and she led me to the Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche lipstick spread. "Try this too. You will die." That particular afternoon, I didn't have another hour to obsess, but I know what I'll be doing on my next Sephora trip.
