Holiday Beauty Buys that Give Back
Photos: Colourpop
I've come across a few very easy ways to give back with your holiday beauty purchases this year, and wanted to share my favorite three.
Help Colourpop & NKLA meow the needle this Christmas.
1. Amazon Prime has made leaving the house to shop for basics entirely unnecessary, and is beefing up it's luxury beauty department. But, do we always remember to go to Amazon Smile (which sends a kick-back to charity for every purchase) instead of Amazon proper? If you're using Amazon's iPhone app, you can't easily access Smile, but if you're on a web browser, go to www.AmazonSmile.com or, to go directly to Amazon Smile's Luxury Beauty Department to feel good about your spoils.
2. Colourpop wants L.A. to be a no-kill zone for shelter animals. Help Colourpop, Best Friends and NKLA to "meow the needle" on this effort by picking up a sparkly shadow or highlighter from their NKLA collection. Put it right on Santa's cookie platter for him to bring back to Mrs. Claus.
3. The next time you're picking up some MAC or Jo Malone at Nordstrom in-store, now through December 24, find a "giving card". Each $10 card contributes toward a child’s new pair of shoes, thanks to Nordies, New Balance, and Shoes That Fit. Also applies at Nordstrom Rack stores.
Take it easy this holiday, loves, and... CHARGE! (Especially if part of your purchase goes towards a heart-warming cause).
Xx, Mom in Mascara
My skin was smoother than life in a week. So I went back for more. Which is why I look like a dartboard this week. Check with me in a few days.
Sometimes our vain or handsy self gets a grip on our heart. Greed is a nauseating and nasty (yet altogether naturally occasional) vice. But as a wise woman once said, “remember all those women on The Titanic who waved off the dessert cart.”
Jasmine Swann, a self-characterized "clean beauty junkie with a dirty past" has a special meaning of love too. Of course, hers isn't easy either.
Gifts are symbolic and it's in our human DNA to want to share with people we love. Psychologically speaking, gift giving is a deeply natural way of forming bonds.
Don nary a bracelet nor necklace... but enrobe your life in gemstones nonetheless (without the new-agey bull-crud).

beautyblender: I still really love you, but lowercase is soo goop circa 2008.
Forcing another person to do virtually anything is generally indicative of malice. Unless mom is forcing you to eat your veggies. (Also, an appearance by Brandi Glanville.)
The face cream was... well, really and truly, thickly, abundantly black. Strangely black. It was ambiguous in its inexplicably. It was wonderfully luxurious, and inexorably mysterious, but just too expensive for what you're really getting.
